Sign this letter to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell

National Football League
Commissioner Roger Goodell
280 Park Avenue
NY, NY 10017

March 1, 2012

Dear Commissioner Goodell:

As 100 million viewers tuned in to watch the Super Bowl, British pop star Maya Arulpragasam, better known as M.I.A., raised her middle finger to the cameras during the Super Bowl halftime show, and appeared to sing something to the effect of "I don't give a (expletive)."

I appreciate that the NFL quickly apologized for M.I.A.'s actions. Unfortunately, both the NFL and the NBC network have failed to protect the millions of children and families from being exposed to the offense.

Given the history of the Super Bowl halftime show, and the controversy that has surrounded the NFL's choice of entertainers, I urge you to strongly re-evaluate the process in which those who are chosen to perform are vetted.

First, each performer should be required to sign a contract that specifically states that any action deemed offensive, obscene or otherwise embarrassing to the NFL will result in forfeiture of payment to the performer.

Secondly, the NFL should thoroughly examine the history of each headline entertainer to determine if their past actions present a risk for inappropriate behavior while representing the NFL.

Enclosed with this letter are the signatures of over 100,000 citizens who want the NFL to provide an entertaining Super Bowl halftime show, free from offensive content.

I look forward to hearing from you regarding this matter and will share your response with our supporters.

Sincerely,

Join me in signing this letter to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. My goal is to get at least 100,000 signatures before February 29. We will mail it on March 1, 2012. That will give Commissioner Goodell plenty of time to secure wholesome, family-friendly entertainers for the 2013 Super Bowl.
